Monday, August 25, 2008 - Race 9 Jim the Plumber is in the books
IKO had another great night of racing at Kilkare Speedway. The night was sponsored by Jim the Plumber and we all want to thank him for making the night a great success. Points have been updated and we have one race left for IKO on September 12th.

Monday, August 18, 2008 - August 15 & 16 race results are posted

We had a great weekend of racing at Kilkare and all the points are posted for Future Stars. We want to thank all the race teams that traveled to race with us this weekend. We had a great Future Star and Open Class showing. After all the racing was complete there was good food and a live band for everyone to enjoy.

We only have two point races left for this season. Jim the Plumber's Money race is this Friday 22 August at Kilkare. This is Bus race night and there will be a lot of fans in the stands. Our final race is scheduled for 12 September and will be a Money race as well. So far we have $250.00 sponsored by Wenrick Racing.

Please keep in mind we only get one drop based on race 1 being a rainout.

Wednesday, August 06, 2008 - August 15th & 16th Race Event Information

IKO’s next race event is scheduled for Friday August 15th. This is a money race for Future Stars sponsored by New Carlisle Chrysler Jeep Dodge Collision Center. There will be 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place trophies and the payout is 1st $100, 2nd $75, 3rd $50, 4-10th $25. Then we return Saturday morning August 16th to run the T&K Trucking money race for the Future Stars. We will have trophies for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd for both feature races and the money will be divided by your combined finish of both races. Also on Saturday we will have the Courtney Hannah racing FWD money race plus we will run QT Midget races on the center track. Depending on car count we will run an Open class if we have at least 4 cars. So if you run Open and you intend to come race please call Steve. If we don’t get 4 cars we’ll let you know so you don’t waste fuel driving to Kilkare. Steve’s number is 513-563-4000.

Thursday, July 31, 2008 - Please check the Schedule for Updates

We have made a few changes to our schedule. We lost our Sunday Double Feature on 17 August. It looks like we have sponsors for our remaining races in 2008. We only need a half sponsor for one race which costs $250.00. Points will count for all remaining races so please plan on only one drop for the year as we already have 3 rainouts. So 9 races count and everyone drops 1 for a total of 8 races for the points championship.

Sunday, July 27, 2008 - American Tool Works Race 4 a great success

Thanks to Mike Lorance for the American Tool Works sponsorship Friday night at Kilkare. It was a great race for the fans and lots of folks came behind the grand stands after the race to talk with the drivers. We are gaining momentum and getting a lot people interested in IKO. Having sponsorships and clean racing makes a big difference. They had all the drivers’ line up on the front stretch after the race handed out trophies and interviewed every driver. They all did a great job! Remember to thank your SPONSORS!

Kilkare has a write up on the evening events so visit www.kilkare.com to read the race recap!

Please note that Kilkare decided after our weekend event on 20 July that we are no longer be allowed to race with radios. No other class at Kilkare uses them so we are expected to race there and follow their rules. IKO had no input on this decision but it appears to be a good decision. Our last race had no radios and it was a great race.

Our next event is on 15 August Friday night at Kilkare. It is the New Carlisle Chrysler Jeep Dodge Collision Center Money Race. Payout will be; 1st $100, 2nd $75, 3rd $50, 4-10th $25 with trophies for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd.

Tuesday, July 22, 2008 - Race 2 & 3 in the books and the American Tool Works Race 4 this Friday 25 July

We had a great double feature event Sunday and IKO wants to thank all the race teams that traveled to Kilkare. We had a great Future Star and FWD car count , but unfortunately we only had two Baby Grand  teams and no Open teams show up. Based on this we will drop the Baby Grands and Open class from our schedule. We needed to have a good showing in order to get the track to support us and we fell way short.

We have a Future Star money race this Friday July 25th. It is the American Tool Works Money Race paying 1st $100, 2nd $75, 3rd $50, 4-10th $25.

Tuesday, July 15, 2008 - IKO races 5 & 6 20 July 2008

These are really our second and third point races due to all our rainouts, but regardless we will be racing this Sunday 20 July at Kilkare Speedway. Gates will open at 10:00 AM with Hot laps starting at 11:00 till 12:00. Drivers meeting will start at 12:15 and our first race will start at approximately 12:30.  All cars must be through pre-tech prior to the race. We will run both future star and open class for MiniCups and Jr Pro and Pro Baby Grands and FWD. We will run two 25 lap features for each class. There will be  1st, 2nd, and 3rd place trophies for each class. The FWD will also have  $100.00 to win prize money.  Kids 12 and under (not racers) are free in the pit area. All others will pay the standard pit fee. There is also a $20 entry fee per race.

Any questions please call Steve at 1-513-563-4000

Tuesday, July 15, 2008 - Jim the Plumber Money Race rescheduled

Kilkare has rescheduled our Jim the Plumber race for 22 August, 2008. This is the same night the Bus race was rescheduled on as well. This is great news since we have lost three races to rain already this year. So please mark your calendars and plan accordingly. This race will not count toward MMRA as the date doesn't meet the two week cutoff prior to the National event.

Wednesday, July 02, 2008 - IKO race procedures update

Please remember that all new MiniCup drivers have to start their first three races on the tail. This is feature races so keep in mind heat races don't count. It doesn't matter what you have raced before it is a safety issue and we have all had to do it. You also need to have a yellow Rookie strip on the rear bumper for the entire year just not the first three races.

All drivers must have and use a race receiver during heat and feature races. These are mandatory by Kilkare so we will be checking at all races from this point forward.

Inversion--IKO will handle the inversion on race day as follows. If there are ten cars we will put a 2, 4, 6, and 8 pill in the a hat and the fast qualifier will pull the pill. If we have an odd number we will round down so if we have nine cars we go down to eight and would have a 2, 4, and 6 pill in the hat for the inversion. If there are fourteen cars up to twelve can be inverted. If we don't qualify then the driver that pulls the pole position will pull the pill from the hat.

Qualifying can be done three ways; Single car green white checker, group qualifying, or by pulling a pill at sign in. During group qualifying Kilkare will count only your fastest lap, not an average, so it is in your best interest to keep a good distance between all the cars.

Monday, June 30, 2008 - JIM THE PLUMBER IKO MINI CUP RACE

Kilkare Speedway this Friday, July 4th. The pit gate will open at 5:00 PM. This is our second points race out of ten (10) for 2008. Remember we will count your best eight (8) races to determine the IKO Future Stars Points Championship. Jim the Plumber / IKO MiniCup Series will award trophies to the top three plus payout $100.00 for 1st, $75.00 for 2nd, $50.00 for 3rd, and 4th through 10th each getting $25.00. We will have two (2) hot lap sessions and feature race only. There will be no heat races due to the Bus Races. This is how all the classes will run this week. We aren't sure about qualifying at this time but will find out later this week and let you know if it will be a 2 lap single car, group or simply a draw.

We look forward to another great night of racing and we also want to thank Jim the Plumber for his sponsorship of this event.

Wednesday, June 25, 2008 - Double Feature Rescheduled for 20 July (June 8th Postponed) and other information

Steve has our make up date rescheduled with Kilkare. It will take place on Sunday July 20th. This will be a double feature for Future Stars, Open, Jr and Pro Baby Grands, and FWD Hornets classes. Gates open at 10:00 AM and practice starts shortly after. Racing will begin at 12:00. Each Class will run two (2) 25 lap features. These races will count for both IKO and MMRA points. We will follow MMRA rules for MiniCups and BabyGrands. For the FWD we will use Kilkare and Mt Lawn rules as the only difference is tires so either tire street or Falken are allowed.

We have seperated the Future Star and Open schedule as well to try and make it a little easier to follow. We hope this helps everyone as I have had several complaints.

As stated last month based on all the rainouts we have changed our points race for Future Stars and will offer 10 point races and count 8. The final race in September will be a non point race.

All other classes will need to make a minimum of 4 Kilkare races and provide 4 other race results to make their 8 race total. Of course as you get better results continue to forward that information to Steve or Greg so it can be updated.

Wednesday, June 25, 2008 - New Friday Night Sponsor Secured (only one left)

Please welcome the New Carlisle Chrysler Jeep Dodge Collision Center as our latest Friday night sponsor. We want to thank Kevin Kline for the outstanding support. If you have a need for collision repair please give him a call.

Sunday, June 22, 2008 - The Ray Hannah Memorial is finally in the books

The Ray Hannah Memorial is in the books and the payout was increased for 4th -10th based on only having 7 cars. We got plenty of track time and Kilkare did a great job getting the Minicups in front of the fans. We had two hot lap sessions and did individual qualifying. Qualifying had Joey Greening setting fast time with a 14.771, followed by Cole Williams and Brandon Oakley. The track pulled a 10 for invert and IKO inverted the entire field. This put Matthew Lorance on the pole with Cole Williams on the outside. Cole Williams had to overcome rear break issues but got it done before the race. We had a rough start to the first race and had a few spins causing a few restarts. Once everyone got the bugs worked out the race went caution free the rest of the way. There were a lot of great battles for position. After starting on the tail Joey Greening finally made it through the pack and ran down Cole WIlliams with 4 laps to go. There was some great side by side racing but Joey couldn't get around Cole who made his Minicup look as wide as a semi to keep the lead. Courtney Hannah came in a strong 3rd in a race that honored her father. When the race was over Kilkare had the entire field pull to the front stretch and they interviewed 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place finishers. After the interviews all the cars went behind the grand stands so family and fans could come down and see the cars and drivers. We want tell our two rookies they did a great job for their first event. Unfortunately, Zach Grody who was running good lap times during hot laps and qualifying had to pull to the middle after the first yellow with a broken right tie rod. Noah Wenrick had a great race and jumped out of the car with a big grin. We hope to see all of you on the 4th of July!!!l&l

Tuesday, June 17, 2008 - Remember Race Recievers are required at Kilkare

Kilkare mandates race receivers and manages the race using them so this is not an option. Please set your receiver to channel 1102 frequency 463.7625. We will go over this at tech race night. If you only have one race receiver then you will not be using radios. If you need a race receiver the best place to purchase one is at http://www.babygrandracing.com/partsmc.htm.

The track will also be issuing transponders for us to use. We have submittted a list of known drivers. If you arrive and aren't on the list please let them know you are a minicup and get one (they take your drivers license to ensure they get it back). We will show everyone where to mount the transponder.

Tuesday, June 17, 2008 - The Ray Hannah Memorial--Money Race--June 20th at Kilkare

This may be the week we get the first IKO race in the books for 2008.
Let's all pray for good weather and no problems at the track for this Friday June 20th at Kilkare. This is a Future Stars only race and also a money race (The Ray Hannah Memorial) Gates open at 5:00 PM and the Grandstands open at 6:00 PM.

We look forward to seeing everyone at the track. We will probably all be pitted in the very back (away from the track) against the fence so look for the IKO signs. Remeber you must keep all small children with an adult in the pit area.

Please bring your membership paper work for IKO and MMRA. Please keep in mind we will be doing tech pre and post race and race teams will be chosen to help throughout the year.

Tuesday, June 03, 2008 - June 8th Double Feature Canceled by Kilkare

Attention all drivers who planned to attend our June 8th Double Feature Race at Kilkare.

Kilkare has canceled our race due to a scheduleing conflict on their end. Please contact any drivers you can to let them know not to travel. We are working to find a new date and will keep everyone updated.

Tuesday, May 27, 2008 - Another rainout causes Future Star points change

We rained out yet again making our first three races all zeros! This has caused us to review our IKO Future Stars points system. We will now count 10 races and drop two leaving the point system counting your best 8 races. The final race of the year will be a fun race at this time, but if we continue to rain out we may need to add it back into the count.

Tuesday, May 27, 2008 - June 8th Kilkare Double Feature

Sunday June 8th at Kilkare we will run Future Stars, Open class, Jr Pro and Pro Baby Grands and a FWD-Hornet class. Gates open at 10:00 AM and practice starts shortly after. Racing will begin at 12:00. Each Class will run TWO (2) 25 lap features. These races will count for both IKO and MMRA points.

If you plan to attend please contact Steve Smith (513-563-4000) or Greg Greening (937-572-9248) so we can get a car count. We are going to offer half of each classes entry fee as payout to help offset fuel cost! The remaining dollars will by 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Trophies. We look forward to seeing you all there. Keep in mind our goal is to be finished racing by 6:00 PM soeveryone can get home Sunday night.

Friday, May 16, 2008 - Race 2 Rained Out
Our next race will now be 23 May at Kilkare for Future Stars only. Eventually we will get in a race. This will still be a Money Race and the Ray Hannah Memorial.

Friday, May 02, 2008 - Schedule Changes

Please note that we have updated our schedule layout and added the Central Indiana Open class to our minicup schedule and broke out the Baby Grands and FWD-Hornets. We had to drop our July 26th race and move it to June 8th. It will still be a 50 lap double feature.

Monday, April 28, 2008 - 4th of July Sponsor Secured--Thanks to Jim the Plumber

Lets all thank Jim for stepping up and sponsoring our third race. He has chose the 4th of July race to support the IKO Future Stars. Please take time to thank Jim at the race and show our support. Visit Jim's web site at http://www.jimtheplumber.com/

JIM THE PLUMBER logo.JPG

Monday, April 14, 2008 - Race 1 a Rain out and Sponsors needed

With Race 1 being a rain out and not being rescheduled it will be zero for all IKO members on the points standing. We have moved the Ray Hannah Memorial to May 9th and it will be a money race. Payout is $100.00 to win, $75.00 2nd, $50.00 3rd, and $25.00 4th-10th

Steve has recently emailed a paper that explains our race sponsor program. We are still looking for 5 more Friday night sponsors. Please help out and print a few copies and visit some of your local businesses so we can  make 2008 a great year for our young drivers. Basically the cost is $500.00 per race event with $100.00 going for top 3 trophies and the remaining $ 400.00 being paid to the racers.

Sunday, April 06, 2008 - Please welcome our newest race Sponsor

Let's all thank American Tool Works for the support. ATW has signed up to sponsor the July 25th Race at Kilkare. Thanks to American Tool Work we now have our second money race for 2008. First place $100, 2nd $75, 3rd $50, and 4th-10th is $25.

ATW 3.jpg

We are still looking for more Friday night Sponsors!

Friday, April 04, 2008 - Rain out update
It was brought to our attention that our rain out proceedure only addressed a total rain out. We need to address if we begin practice or have a heat race then there is a rain out. If there is a make up date at Kilkare only the cars that were registered can compete for points.

Friday, April 04, 2008 - Hoosier Tires
As most of you know we bought our tires from Bob Peters last year. He decided not to sell tires this year so Greg Greening has setup an account and is selling tires to IKO racers. He is only recouping his cost to include tax and shipping. A tire will cost $64.00 each. The idea is not to pay shipping so if you want tires I'll bring them to the track. He has 6 sets left. If enough people want tires he will place another order just let Greg know.

Thursday, April 03, 2008 - IKO and MMRA memberships

With our first race just around the corner we need everyone to get their memberships in right away. Our first race will be hectic and we won't have time for a lot of paperwork. You can download and mail it to Steve.

We need everyone to consider joining MMRA. In order for our series drivers points to count nationally they must be an MMRA member. To get the full 40 points for a win we need a car count of ten MMRA cars. So if you've been thinking about joining please do it soon.

IKO had the top three drivers in the nation last year and we would like to keep that record!

Tuesday, April 01, 2008 - Safety related requirements/information prior to our first race

Arm restraints are required for all Future Star drivers.

Neck collar is the minimum but recommend a HANS or Hutchens device.

Belts can’t exceed the 3 year old date.

Helmet must be a Snell 2000 or newer.

Single layer fire suit and gloves and a pair of racing shoes are required.

You must have front brakes on your car.

All Rookies must have a 2” X 24” yellow strip on their rear bumper.

All Rookies must start at the rear of the field for their first three race events. This includes heat and features regardless of how you qualify.

Tuesday, April 01, 2008 - To all Race teams that intend to race with IKO

Race Receivers are mandatory for all drivers and are mandatory for all spotters that will be using two way radios to communicate with their driver. Kilkare mandates race receivers and manages the race using them so this is not an option. If you only have one then you will not be using radios. If you need a race receiver the best place to purchase one is at http://www.babygrandracing.com/partsmc.htm.

Tuesday, April 01, 2008 - Rain out rules

Rain out rules

We do not have rain dates so every rain out will be scored as a zero for that race date. We will maintain our three race drop for this year so at the end of the year this would be one of your drops.

Wednesday, March 26, 2008 - 2008 Friday night race procedures

Steve spoke with KilKare and here is how our Friday night races will operate this season. IKO will follow KilKare race procedures. The KilKare staff will be directing our races so IKO will not have a race director. If you are told to go to the tail you need to do so. If they have to tell you more then two times you will be black flagged. We will run transponders and qualify during either practice or heat races. The track will pull an invert of 0, 2, 4, or 6 and it will be entered into the computer to set our line up.

Laps-we will have hot laps/practice then heat races Heat races will be 10 laps if we have 10 cars or less. If we have more then 10 cars we will split the field and run two 8 lap heat races. The feature race will be 20 laps. During the two special events (bus race and trailer race) we will have no heat races and a 30 lap feature. We will line up behind the grand stands on these events so spectators can come down to see the cars and talk with our drivers.

Friday night IKO entry fee is $20 per car.&

Wednesday, March 26, 2008 - 2008 Tech procedures and radio and race receivers

Tech procedures--Doug will try to support most of our races but we will implement new procedures this year. Each night a race team will be chosen to support tech. An adult and driver will be in tech and support Doug when when he is there. We will draw for tech items. We will be looking at carbs, gas, shocks, springs, wheel base and other items per MMRA rules. Some evenings we may pull one or three you never know. Based on projected car count we are hopeful each race team will only have to pull tech once.

KilKare hasn’t stated if radios will be allowed or if race receivers will be used. If radios are allowed we will be monitoring our drivers and radio communication this year. If it is decided that radios are driving a car that race team will lose their right to use radios. We will confirm both radio and race receiver requirements from KilKare and post an update.

Sunday, March 23, 2008 - Calling all Drivers--Membership forms for IKO

Kilkare has their first test and tune scheduled for this Sunday March 16th. CGates are scheduled to open at Noon. However, we highly recommend you check the website or call the track before you make the trip. Wednesday, February 20, 2008 - IKO Membership Meeting and Setup Class

This meeting is for Future Stars, Open, Jr Pro and Pro Baby Grands.

When--Saturday Feb 23rd starting at Noon we will have the general membership meeting. Topics can range from rules, race procedures, points and schedule. Pleas send any advance issues or concerns to Steve if you can. Right after the meeting we will have a general setup class for Minicups. The setup class and any question will be complete by 4:00PM.

The meeting will be held at Doug Drook's shop. Doug's address is 8123 State route 48 Mainville, Ohio. I ran the address through Map Quest and it comes right to his shop. In Mainville you will come to a four way stop (flashing light). His shop is to the left behind the Mainville Pizza Shop. Look for Steve's van and the IKO banner.

Tuesday, February 19, 2008 - Membership requirements for 2008

We will have two membership forms this year. There will be a Future Star and a Jr. Pro form. This form will have both driver and associate membership required for each drive based on drivers being minors. The cost of each membership is $40.00 per Driver and $25.00 per associate.

The second membership form will be for Open and Pro drivers. If the driver is eighteen or older they will not be required to complete the associate form section. If the driver is a minor then please complete the associate section of the form. The driver and associate cost are the same as above.

Please keep in mind that at this time Kilkare has given us Future Star slots on Friday nights. We do have a few weekend races where Open and Baby Grands will race with the IKO Series. Steve is continuing to work with Mt Lawn to get a couple more race dates for Open and Baby Grands but nothing has been confirmed. We are still planning to allow both Open and Baby Grand drivers (only) count a total of 10 races toward their IKO points. So if you are an open car and run national races or go to Mount Lawn on Saturday's you can submit those races for your IKO points.

The forms will be up for printing by Thursday if everything goes right and we will have copies at the meeting Saturday.

Tuesday, February 19, 2008 - Congratulations to our IKO winners at Speedweek

The IKO series did an outstanding job at the MMRA National event in Florida.

Alec Webb Future Star driver took fast time and feature win all three days. I tink he has set the course for a fantastic year.

Kyle Baugh and Taylor Webb both had great finishes in the Jr Pro races. Kyle set fast time all three days and won the first day. Taylor then won on day 2 and 3.

Joey Greening, Brett Robinson and Joe McCloud all raced as well and had mixed results through out the week. The two Joe's had lots of people running them over and making their cars go slow. We had some late nights working on the cars but everyone pulled together and helped get them back for the next day.

Please check the MMRA website for full race results and details.

Saturday, January 26, 2008 - Membership and IKO support

I hope to get the membership forms updated/complete this week. I have been busy getting cars ready to race and not working on the website. I'm sure you've noticed!

We will offer Future Stars, Open, Jr Pro and Pro membership for 2008 We will require each minor driver have an associate parent/guardian regardless of class. They can fill out the one form and not use the associate form.

Membership cost has always been based on what tracks offered to pay us. Based on losing SportsDrome this year we will need to increase our membership fee. A drive membership will be $40.00 and a Associate parent/guardian will be $25.00. If you plan to race in more then one class you can fill out both membership forms but only pay $65 for driver and $35.00 for Associate parent/guardian.

Steve is looking for people to support the car shows. Please let him know if you can help on any of the dates. Even a couple hours is a big help.

Saturday, January 26, 2008 - 2008 Schedule (to date) is Posted

The 2008 Schedule (to date) is posted. As most of you know SportsDrome didn't want IKO back at their track this year. So Steve has been working hard to get a schedule together that supports all our racers.

Kilkare offered Friday night Future Star only race dates. Steve requested two weekends so we can add Open and Baby Grands to our schedule. We are also working with Mt Lawn and their Minicup group that runs 10 Open races. They said they welcome our open racers at all their race events. They run a Saturday night Schedule. Steve is also asking for a couple of their race dates to include IKO Future Stars and possibly Baby Grands. Again, this is not a done deal, but Steve is trying to get it worked out. The Kilkare dates are set and we are listed on their website. The two races we are trying to get will be on a Saturday following a Friday night Kilkare.

This schedule is subject to change based on track decisions. Steve has tried to leave open weekends for teams to travel to other tracks and attend the MMRA National events.

Our goal is to have a 13 race schedule and count your 10 best. We will discuss how we can support the Open and Baby Grands at our membership meeting. We are thinking about allowing racers to count race results from other tracks so they can have ten races for points as well.

Wednesday, January 09, 2008 - 2008 planning and updates

We are still in the process of creating the 2008 schedule and hope to have it complete shortly. Steve has been working with the tracks trying to get everything completed.

Membership forms need to be updated for 2008 before you submit them. Please give us a week to get them updated. We will notify everyone when they can download and complete the forms.

We will be archiving most of the website and get a fresh start for 2008. The Driver profile never really worked out last year so we will be looking at a new way to get this done for 2008. This may be emailing in a data sheet we can cut and past with a picture of the driver and car.

Sunday, November 04, 2007 - IKO Banquet is complete putting the 2007 race season in the books

The IKO 2007 banquet was held at Kentucky Speedway and our champions were recognized. Alec Webb is the Future Stars Champion and Chad Varner is the Open Class Champion. The evening was a great celebration and a chance to recognize the achievements of our racers.

The evening was a huge success because of the outstanding support we receive from our sponsors. Steve put together another great show. There are pictures in the image gallery of the trophies and the evenings activities. With the banquet being complete the 2007 racing season has came to a close.

We are working on the 2008 schedule and hope to have something together by the first of the year. There are a lot of thing that need to occur with all the tracks and the MMRA schedule before we will have a firm 2008 schedule. We will let you know once it is together.

The first race of the year for 2008 will be the MMRA sponsored Speed Week at Bronson Speedway February 13th to the 17th. Check out the MMRA site for more details.

Mt Lawn is by New Castle IN. (about 20 miles east of Indy) where the Go Kart track is located. Go to www.mtlawnspeedway.com to get additional information and directions. You won't see this race on the schedule as it was moved from the Labor Day weekend.

Friday, September 07, 2007 - Race 11 at Kilkare Sept 15th 2007

Okay folks our last points race is right around the corner.  Please be at Kilkare Sept 15th at 11:00 AM when the gates open. Hot Lps will start at Noon and run until 2:00 PM. The drivers meeting will start at 2:30 PM with races starting at 3:00 PM. We are looking to have the race day end by 6:00 PM.

We plan on running Future Stars, Open Class, FWD/Compacts, and for this event we have invited all Baby Grand drivers to attend. There will be Heat Races and Features for this event. There is a message posted on the MMRA webpage letting Baby Grand drivers know they can come race.

Remember this is the last points race and you get to drop one race as only 10 will count for the championship.

One note on this race. We would llike to try running the heat and feature races without two way radios. One exception is Lacie we need to make sure we continue to keep her out of the way. Don't anyone get up in arms there is no final decision and it would have to be put before the series before anything is changed. We want to try this and see how it works.

Thursday, September 06, 2007 - MMRA National Results

We all made it back and everyone had a fantastic time at the Shenandoah Speedway. What a beautiful facility. We had five teams from IKO make the trip. There were four Future Stars and one Open class. Kyle, Bret, Joey, and Matthew were there for the FS and Joe McCloud for the Open.

In FS qualifying Joey set fast time with a lap of 19.546 seconds. The FS race was exciting for the fans and IKO as the finishing order was Kyle, Joey, Bret and Matthew came in 9th. The great news is that DBV Motorsports put up the $50 per driver if they could race caution free. Good news is all the kids got $50.00.

Joe McCloud had a carburetor failure in qualifying so he had his work cut out for him on race day. As it turns out he was having the race of his life working through the crowd. He was moving up to about 3rd when a late caution flag came out. The car in front of Joe had a terrible restart and Joe got stuck allowing several cars to get around him.  In spite of that tough break Joe put the pedal down and fought his way back to 4th place.

Great Job to all the drivers!

Please go to the MMRA website for more information and the complete finishing order.

Wednesday, August 29, 2007 - Race 10 is in the Books

Well we managed to get a good show at Anderson. There were 17 Future Stars and 20 Open Cars at the track. Every driver seemed to enjoy the track and couldn't get enough time racing on it.

The IKO cars finished up front in qualifing, heat races, and the feature, but we did have a little controversy in the tech area. We left with some lessons learned that IKO will consider for the next year. Regardless, all the people at the track were great and they run a top notch program at Anderson. I believe all the drivers would agree if IKO can get a couple of races on the schedule next year that would be a good thing.

Keep your eye on the points!!! The Future Stars have a tie for first place going into the final race so our next event at Kilkare should be exciting.

Wednesday, August 29, 2007 - MMRA East Grand National Race at Shenandoah Speedway VA.

IKO will have at least four drivers heading to Shenandoah tomorrow to compete in the East Grand National. IKO has four Future Star drivers in the top six with three fighting for the championship of MMRA. Brett, Kyle and Alec are 1-3 with Joey in 6th. We also have Joe McCLoud in the Open Division who is currently 5th in points.

Please wish them all good luck and safe travel. Practice and qualifing are on Friday with the race Saturday night at 6:00 PM. We'll try to update the web site each night if we can get phone connectivity up in God's Country.

Thursday, August 23, 2007 - IKO Series Race 10 at Anderson Speedway August 25th

Jeff Meyers from CRS has provided the following information. All of our races will be completed fairly early in the evening.  They are planning on running a street stock race in between our heats and features but the evenings races will be fast.  In an effort to attempt to pre tech race vehicles and also in an effort to keep our program running fluently we ask that drivers and crew stay very close to their pit areas until after our races our complete.  We will perform as much pre tech as possible with time permitting. There will most likely not be enough time in between heats and features for post heat race tech.  After our races with the Night of Destruction taking place we will have more then sufficient time to tech race cars. When the features are complete top three from all heats and top ten from both features are to report to the scales and stay with their cars until the race vehicle has been teched. Any driver performing an engine or carb change after qualifying or heats will start at the rear of their racing events. We are not sure of the total car count but are planning for around 20 to 25 jr's and around the same for the open division total for the evening.  We also expect all Super Cups to pit in close proximity of each other for both safety and logistical reasons.

Thursday, August 23, 2007 - Additional information for 25 August Race

One note to the IKO is that our jr. division drivers are not allowed to roam the pits with out a parent. Please make sure your drivers are aware of our procedures.  Gates will open at 3:00PM Pit passes are $25 and entry fee is $20 per car paid to CSR.  The open class is 700# and 54% left side. Future stars is 640# with 55% left side. The carbs in Future stars will be checked prior to racing with a .635 nogo guage and inspected for any porting, polishing, and grinding. There will be a few carbs available to purchase if anyone has a problem.

Thursday, August 16, 2007 - Disciplinary Action From Race 8

The information was provided and discussed with everyone so we will remove the posting. If you have any questions please contact Steve Smith IKO Prez.

Next Years Schedule--TO follow-up with our discussion at the drivers meeting please provide feedback on what you believe will provide an opportunity to expand our schedule and attract new race teams to join IKO. We will need to start talking with other groups and tracks soon if we hope to get any dates next Spring. All inputs are appreciated!

Wednesday, July 18, 2007 - Warning to Ohio Travelers this weekend

The I-71 and I-75 bridge in/out of Cincinatti will be experiencing restricted traffic flow this weekend. Last weekend there were delays of 2-3 hours so plan on a different route this weekend.

Don't forget the gates open at 2:00PM this weekend!

Wednesday, July 18, 2007 - Count Down to Race 6 at Sportsdrome

Our next race will be this Saturday 21 July at the Sportsdrome. Gates will open at 2:00 PM not 4:00 PM so plan accordingly. We will pit inside like normal and we hope to get some extra hot laps. Racing will start at 7:00 PM. We hope to see all our drivers at the the track.

What does 2008 look like?

We are at the halfway point of our 2007 racing season. So it is time we all start thinking about our 2008 schedule. We need to consider how we increase car count and keep travel to a minimum. This will be hard to accomplish considering the three state area, but we need to look at how we attract new drivers. This may mean we look at adding a few races at different tracks or add a few more races to the schedule. Our ultimate goal is to keep all of you and have fun racing! We will be asking for your input this weekend so please give it some thought.

Sunday, July 08, 2007 - Race 5 in the books

IKO had another great race at the Sportsdrome this weekend.  Congratulations to Alec Webb the Future Stars winner and Chad Varner  the Open Class winner.  Complete race results and updated points are now posted.

Sunday, July 08, 2007 - MMRA NAtional Results for IKO Drivers (June 29th and 30th)

Because of vacations we are a little behind on our postings on the National Events from last week.

What a great event for the IKO Minicup Series. We had a total of eight cars ready to race. Six Future Stars and 2 Open Class. This is great considering the Future Star car count was 16 and the Open was 5 cars.

Bowling Green was a Rainout so everyone packed up and headed south to Nashville. Nashville went to the Webb Family! We want to congratulate the Webb's for a fantastic show at the MMRA national races last weekend. Taylor won the Open Class and Alec won the Future Star event.

The IKO series had a great showing at this event with Taylor Webb in 1st and Joe McLoud 3rd in the open. The Future Stars had Alec Webb 1st, Taylor Webb 2nd, and Brett Robinson 3rd. Courtney Hannah was 8th, Joey Greening 10th and Kyle Baugh 11th. Kyle led most of the race, but hit the wall after missing a lap car spin.

Wednesday, June 06, 2007 - 16 June Sports Drome is the next IKO event

Our next event is scheduled for the 16th of June at the Sports Drome in Jeffersonville Indiana. The pit gates will open at 4:00 PM. Please take this weekend to check your race cars over and be ready to race next weekend.  We hope to see everyone at the track ready to have a safe race and remember sportsmanship is #1.

Please read the clarification on rules and race procedures (below) as it appears part of the message didn't post.

IKO PREZ STEVE

Tuesday, May 29, 2007 - Clarify Race Procedures and Restate rules

The IKO Management Team would like to restate the rules and clarify race procedures in regards to the following items of concern.

Item 1) No one is authorized to go back on the track after we are finished racing. If you feel there is a need to do so you must check with Steve Smith (IKO Prez).

Item 2) Race Receivers--A race receiver is required and must remain on during a race. As stated during our drivers meeting this past Saturday if you fail to acknowledge the race director you will be black flagged and either sent to the rear or off the track. If a driver is told to give way to faster cars they must do so as soon is it is safe to move. Failure to give way will lead to a black flag.

Spotters be aware of your drivers need to hear the race director. When a yellow comes out expect the director to be getting everyone lined up. If you are a slower car and holding up faster cars tell them to move not block and again expect the director to be communicating with them. If they fail to respond the black flag will fly. We have stated during our membership meeting and drivers meetings that it might be a good idea for spotters to also have a race receiver so they know what is being said and when.

Monday, May 28, 2007 - Continued ---- Clarify Race Procedures and Restate rules

Item 3) Radios-- We discussed the use of radios during our membership meeting and drivers meeting at race 2 (Sports Drome) but based on events during our races we will highlight them one more time. Radios are not intended to drive a race car. We think it is safe to say everyone can tell when a spotter is driving and the driver isn't. This led to a major incident last year with a fine and suspension of a race team. There was a lot of discussion around not allowing radios this year. This issue is being brought up again based on erratic driving from cars who are about to be passed during the race. This type of driving will also lead to a black flag either sending you to the rear or off the track.

Item 4) Drivers Meeting--For Future Stars both the adult/guardian and drive must be present at the drivers meeting. Failure to attend will put you on the tail end of the starting line up.

These rules are for the safety of everyone and are no different from other sanctioned race leagues and will be enforced by IKO.

If we don't get the Radio issue under control we will hold a vote on getting rid of them.

IKO Management

Monday, April 30, 2007 - Race 2 in the books

We have posted the final results of Race 2 on the website. There was a one change to the Future Stars finishing order. As most of you are aware the track scoring had cars missing and caused several issues in the Future Stars feature. When all the dust cleared and we were able to review all the data the results are now final. It resulted in two drivers switching position. We are sorry it took place, but in the future we will require more volunteers to support scoring based on the results of this weekend.

As you will see we are missing a few first names and one complete driver in the Open Class. Please email Greg at ggreening@woh.rr.com so he can update the sheets. All of the paperwork isn't available with Steve in the hospital so we apologize for the lack of information. It will be corrected once made available or you respond to Greg.

We want to thank everyone for stepping up and helping this weekend! See you on the 19th of May at Kil-Kare.

Thursday, April 26, 2007 - Race 2 Sports Drome April 28th

Gates open at 2:00 PM Hot Laps till 5:00 PM. Please note that we will be pitting outside the pit gate we normally enter. We suggest you arrive early and get a parking spot as there will be 4 or 5 classes running so space will go quickly with all the cars coming. Dee has already notorized several Sports Drome Minor release forms so please get with Dee or Doug for the forms. When entering and exiting the pit area we need to ensure the cars stay in a group because it will be very busy and we are hard to see.

Open Class will also need to vote on sharing points year end points.

Sunday, April 22, 2007 - Race 1 results Posted

First we want to thank everyone who showed up Saturday! Although the car count was a little low we still had a great day of racing and both feature races were exciting. Congratulations to Alec Webb (Future Stars) and Chad Varner (Open Class) feature winners.

We want to send out a quick message to Dalton and say "we hope your feeling good after your crash" Saturday afternoon.

The Demo race was a great success Friday and attracted several fans to come out and watch us race Saturday. We have a few folks looking at joining our series based on this weekends events.

We have posted the results under the Point Standings link. We aren't sure that the current look and feel is going to work so we may make a few adjustments later this week.

Don't forget we are at the Sports Drome this Saturday for Race 2!

Wednesday, April 18, 2007 - Friday Night at Kilkare 20 April -- Website updates

Future Stars please let us know who will be at Kilkare on 20 April for the Friday night exhibition race. This is not a points race. It will be a 20 lap shootout in front of the full grandstands. Should be a good chance to get setup for Saturdays race.

Saturday, April 14, 2007 - SportsDrome Rained out Next event 20 -21 April KilKare Front Wheel Drives will join us

Steve just got the word SportsDrome rained out today.

Next event will be an exhibition race (Future Stars only) 20 April Friday night. We will run a 20 lap feature race. Kilkare is giving us a chance to get infront of the fans to try and attract new drivers. Please let us know who can attend.

Friday, April 13, 2007 - Not looking good for today Call Track before heading out

Although they haven't made an official call it doesn't look good. Steve is waiting for the word and will email everyone. The Greenings and Webbs attempted Bowling Green last night. It was great until we started to unload. It started raining and we were rained out. We stayed at the RV park and it hasn't stopped raining since 5:30 last night. Please keep an eye on your email but call the track before you consider heading out.

Thursday, April 05, 2007 - First Race postponed / canceled due to weather

We will be given three practice sessions. Practice will take place between 2-5 PM. We will only have one feature race due to the Sportsdrome running a double schedule.

We suggest you refer to the Sportsdrome website for any updates for next weekends activities.

Thursday, March 15, 2007 - Schedule Change and Points Procedure

We just got confirmation from KilKare on our race schedule and unfortunately we had to make a schedule change. We were scheduled for a two day race weekend at KilKare July 28 and 29th. That will not happen and both races are gone. We will pick up one race September 15th at KilKare.

We have a chance to run a Demonstration race Friday April 20th. This would be a 15-20 lap race. We would pull a number line up and race at 5:00 PM.  We can run a Future Stars only or run Future Stars and Open start on the tail. We need to know if anyone is interested so we can confirm this date. Please keep in mind we run the following day (Saturday) at KilKare. Friday night is the Dayton Area Race night so the stands will be full.

Points race for 2007. Based on an eleven race season we will score the best ten out of eleven. This will give everyone a chance to drop one race.
